Job description

Your candidacy is currently being considered for a requisition for an Alight Inc group company. As you may be aware, Alight has announced intent to divest its Payroll & Professional Services business to HIG Capital. After the transaction closes, this position will be aligned to the new Payroll & Professional Services owned by HIG Capital (‘Divested Group’). By applying for this position which will be with the Divested Group company, you understand and agree to the information you submitted for your application with Alight being shared with the Divested Group company. In addition, if you are made an offer of employment, it will be contingent on your undergoing and successfully completing a background check consistent with the Divested Group company employment policies.

The primary focus of the Senior Specialist will be to support the activities for the payroll life cycle accurately and timely. You will have a key role in the support of all payroll activities in addition to providing support to the payroll team. As the Senior Specialist you will be expected to upskill and develop colleagues through training delivery and coaching to enable them to fulfill their role while performing champion responsibilities for innovation.

Key responsibilities :

  • Organize monthly Brainstorming Sessions with the PY Specialists as part of continuous improvement efforts to increase the effectiveness and efficiency of the Operations Team.
  • As the SME, you will be expected to upskill and develop colleagues through training delivery and coaching to enable them to fulfill their roles.
  • Support the Operations Team from start to end according to the defined standards and client requirements.
  • Ensure that the Payroll Calendar is followed, and any deviation is dealt with via the appropriate change control process
  • Update the Defined Work Instructions (DWIs) and other payroll process documentation
  • Answer payroll-related questions and requests from the team and the clients
  • Understand client-specific payroll reports (other than legal) including legal year-end reporting needs as required by the customer scope of service
  • Undertake, support, and manage a Root Cause Analysis (RCA) when an issue occurs resulting in a client escalation ensuring that mitigating actions are implemented
  • Support the Operations Manager, and PY Lead, with client engagement activities
  • Develop innovative approaches as part of continuous improvement efforts to increase the effectiveness and efficiency of the Operations Team.
  • Proactively identify upsell opportunities and support the Change Request (CR) process when deviations from the contractually defined standard scope of service are identified.
  • Attend client meetings as required to resolve escalations and strengthen relationships.
  • Ensure lessons are learned from each payroll implementation project to ensure continuous improvement to standard methodology
  • Maintains current knowledge of legislation requirements, changes, and payroll procedures
  • Own the quality of service (customer experience, timeliness, accuracy)
  • Ensure compliance with Alight standards across services being delivered
  • Supporting and guiding project implementations and go-lives

Essential

  • BA / BS in a business-related field such as Accounting, Human Resources, Business Administration, or equivalent combination of education & experience.
  • 5 years relevant experience administering Payroll in an HR consulting / HR Outsourcing.
  • Expert knowledge of payroll processes, practices, and associated legislation.
  • Romanian native
  • English (B2)
  • Desirable

  • SAP knowledge.
  • Payroll certifications.
  • Experience managing small-medium scale projects.
  • Professional / Job Experience
  • Strong knowledge of the various inputs and outputs such as third-party interfaces, timekeeping, tax filing / compliance, benefits, and other key areas that integrate with payroll.
  • Ability to identify and mitigate risks.
  • Strong knowledge of MS Office tools such as Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
  • Flexibility to support a global and fast-paced environment.
  • Attention to detail.
  • Self-motivated and a willingness to learn.
  • Ability to collaborate and work in a team environment, as well as independently while adhering to processes and procedures.
