Job Overview
The Warehouse & Logistics Manager is responsible for overseeing the efficient receipt, storage, value-adding servicing, and dispatch of a wide range of IT products. This role ensures productivity targets are achieved and that all warehouse processes are running smoothly and promptly. The ideal candidate will have strong leadership skills, a thorough understanding of inventory management and supply chain logistics, and a commitment to continuous improvement.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Supervising daily operations of the warehouse including receiving, storage, inventory management, and shipping.
- Ensuring that the warehouse is organized, clean, and safe.
- Implementing and maintaining warehouse management systems (WMS) to optimize inventory tracking and space utilization.
- Overseeing maintenance and operation of warehouse equipment, including forklifts, conveyors, and automated systems.
- Planning and coordinating the inbound and outbound logistics operations.
- Optimizing transportation routes and methods to reduce costs and improve delivery times.
- Managing relationships with third-party logistics providers, carriers, and suppliers.
- Ensuring compliance with all shipping regulations and standards.
- Developing and enforcing policies and procedures for inventory management.
- Conducting regular inventory audits and cycle counts to maintain accuracy.
- Implementing strategies to reduce inventory discrepancies and losses.
- Recruiting, training, and managing warehouse staff, ensuring a high level of performance and professional development.
- Fostering a positive work environment and promoting a culture of safety, efficiency, and continuous improvement.
- Conducting performance reviews and providing feedback to Team members.
- Identifying opportunities for process improvement and cost reduction.
- Driving initiatives to enhance operational efficiency and productivity.
- Ensuring that all safety incidents are documented and addressed promptly.
Skills & Qualifications
Degree in business, computing, economics, information systems, management, transport, distribution or logistics or other related field.5+ years’ work experience in warehousing, storage, retail or administration.Experience in running / working in a warehouse in an IT Distribution firm will be considered an advantage.A logical and systematic approach to work.Good time management ability.Ability to solve problems and make decisions, as well as think laterally and offer creative solutions.Commercial awareness and numeracy skills.IT literacy and the ability to handle electronic data.Ability to manage change.Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work well as part of a team, as well as manage people.Excellent communication skills, both oral and written.Negotiation and analytical skills.Willingness to be involved with packaging / loading / stocking / handling warehouse machinery and equipment when necessary.Remuneration
