Responsibilities
We are seeking an experienced Area Manager to join our RBS team. This pivotal role bridges people management, product management, and the enhancement of technical capabilities across our organization. The ideal candidate is a technology expert with a proven record of leadership at multiple managerial levels. With deep knowledge in banking IT—and ideally retail IT banking—this role also demands robust technical expertise across distributed IT systems, modern architectures, web development, and mainframe systems.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Oversee and inspire multiple teams, ensuring each group meets its performance and productivity goals;
- Provide mentorship and guidance to direct reports and their managers, nurturing leadership development;
- Collaborate with senior leadership to define and implement technical strategies that align with business objectives;
- Lead initiatives to enhance product development processes and technical capabilities across the teams;
- Drive innovation by leveraging best practices in distributed IT systems, contemporary architectural design, web development, and the integration / maintenance of legacy mainframe systems;
- Ensure projects and product enhancements are delivered on time, within scope, and meet high-quality standards;
- Monitor progress, mitigate risks, and implement process improvements to elevate team performance;
- Lead the project management / transitions for own area;
- Collaboration with HRBP and other support functions to align with the People strategy and / or Sourcing strategy;
- Serve as the liaison between technical teams and business stakeholders, ensuring clear communication and alignment of priorities;
- Leverage your in-depth banking IT expertise combined with a modern view of architecture to interact effectively with both internal and external partners.
Profile required
A minimum of 15 years in the technology sector , including at least 7 years in a managerial role;Must have at least 3 years as a manager of managers, demonstrating strong multi-level leadership experience;A University Degree in a technical field (, Engineering, Computer Science, or a related discipline) is required;Fluency in French at B2 level or higher is mandatory ;Extensive working knowledge of banking IT systems, with retail IT banking expertise being a plus;Proven experience managing and optimizing distributed system architectures;Deep understanding of both legacy (mainframe) systems and modern architectural paradigms, including cloud-based solutions;Familiarity with contemporary web development technologies and frameworks, ensuring seamless integration of front-end and back-end processes;Recognizes the importance of mainframe technology in legacy environments and understands how to bridge these systems with modern IT practices;Proven ability to inspire and lead teams through dynamic change, fostering a culture of accountability and continuous growth;Capability to align technological strategies with business objectives, anticipating industry trends and evolving market needs;A forward-thinking approach that combines robust technical expertise with a keen understanding of the market, ensuring teams remain at the forefront of technological advancements;Excellent communication and negotiation skills to effectively manage relationships with diverse teams and stakeholders.Why join us
