Summary

GKN Aerospace designs and produces structural components for the global aerospace industry and with engineering offices located in Papendrecht, Hoogeveen and Bucharest. The company manufactures heavily loaded structural parts and the integrated moving components using conventional materials like aluminum and advanced thermoplastic composite materials.

We are seeking a Functional Team Leader – Analysis, based in our Papendrecht site, to lead a team of stress and analysis engineers working on the NH90 helicopter programme. The NH90 helicopter is a medium size, multi-role military helicopter developed by a collaboration of companies. The successful candidate will have a strong stress analysis background, ideally with prior experience of working with structures in a high vibration environment. The candidate must be capable of leading a team of 6-8 engineers located both our Papendrecht and Bucharest sites, with a talent to grow and develop engineers to create a high performing team. The ideal candidate will be a recognized approver of stress technical documents and have experience performing both static and fatigue and damage tolerance analysis.

The candidate should possess strong communication and organizational skills and be able to interact with multiple internal and external stakeholders to define the technical requirements, evaluate technical risks, and manage delivery schedule and costs. The candidate must be able to work on a military programme, and comply with the necessary security and nationality requirements.

What you will do

FTL – Analysis NH90 reports functionally / hierarchically to the Center of Competence – Analysis Manger and reports operationally to the Chief Engineer NH90

The Functional Team Lead is responsible for :

  • Daily management (coaching / managing) of the NH90 Analysis team (Approximately 6-8 people);
  • Maintaining contacts with stakeholders in other departments in order to define work package scope and requirements and be able to deliver as agreed;
  • Lead team to deliver the assigned tasks to achieve the programme / project objectives through planning, work tasking, and execution of required engineering activities;
  • Develop and implement methods plans, toolsets and solutions that are appropriate and compliant to achieve the design and programme / project objectives;
  • Assess, manage, and mitigate overall technical risk;
  • Generate, sign, check, or approve all assigned project deliverables, documents, and reports as required within limits of signature authorizations;
  • Support technical and customer discussions and reviews, including formal gate reviews, the creation and preparation of technical data and presentations;
  • Be responsible for managing team performance, including conducting performance management reviews; Create a positive workplace environment through managing team engagement;
  • Be able to manage training, mentoring, and development of engineers including development toward technical signatories.

What you will bring

  • Bachelor or Master Degree in (Aerospace) Engineering or equivalent working and thinking Level gained through experience.
  • At least 10 years of relevant experience gained within an engineering discipline,ideally within an aerospace environment.
  • Relationship building at Levels up to and including senior management level.
  • Able to work with cross-functional Teams that will typically include (in addition to the Design Engineering Team) Operations, Manufacturing Engineering, Commercial. Procurement, Quality and Suppliers.
  • In addition, he / she has experience in performing strength analyses (both static analyses and fatigue analyses).
  • Able to work with and interpret data from Finite Element Models (NASTRAN / PATRAN / Simcenter 3D)
  • Familiar with the required quality systems in aviation, such as interpretation of aviation legislation requirements.
  • Have excellent judgement in considering when escalation is appropriate.
  • Strong minded, convincing and committed, focussed on delivery, must be able to work under pressure and to tight deadlines.
  • Ability to clearly present data, reports and presentations to facilitate the decision making process at all levels of the business.
  • Aware of aerospace manufacturing techniques and methods
  • Aware of essential airworthiness regulations and quality systems.
