Billing Operations Specialist

Position Summary :

Shutterstock is seeking an accounting professional to take on the role of Billing Operations Specialist for handling cases and situations related to invoice creation, adjustment creations, reporting, customer information updates and other types of incoming requests related to financial / onboarding documents or customer accounts. The role will include collaborating with the sales organization to ensure optimal resolution for encountered situations. An additional responsibility will be to collaborate with cross functionally to ensure a positive experience and outcome for both the company and customer.

The Day to Day :

Work cross-functionally with teams to complete various tasks including invoicing, credit memos, refunds, and chargebacks.

Reconcile billing data against contracts and supporting documentation.

Manage recurring and one-time billing processes across multiple systems and business units.

Identify and resolve billing discrepancies and disputes in a timely and customer-centric manner.

Support month-end close activities

Maintain and improve billing-related documentation, SOPs, and internal controls.

Collaborate with IT / Finance Systems to optimize billing platforms and integrations (e.g., ERP, CRM, subscription management tools).

Assist with audits and ensure compliance with SOX, GAAP, and other applicable standards.

Provide excellent customer service to both internal and external stakeholders regarding billing inquiries.

What you’ll Bring to the Role :

Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or related field preferred.

Advanced written and spoken English (B2)

4–6 years of experience in billing, accounts receivable, or finance operations.

Strong understanding of billing systems (e.g., NetSuite, Workday).

Understanding / previous experience of CRM tools (e.g : Salesforce)

Familiarized with other issue-tracking tools (e.g : Jira)

Medium Excel skills and comfort working with large data sets.

Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.

Strong analytical and problem-solving ability.

Strong collaborative approach.

Effective communication and interpersonal skills.

Ability to thrive in a fast-paced and continuously evolving environment.

Preferred Qualifications :

Experience in SaaS, subscription, or professional services industries.

Familiarity with automated billing platforms or custom invoicing processes.
