Summary

As a Software Engineer you will lead the technical transition modernization and rewrite of our core enterprise applications from legacy systems . Operating within a complex multi-technology environment you will take technical ownership of the end-to-end software development lifecycle (SDLC) to deliver a modern this role you will combine hands-on technical execution with team mentorship guiding developers through this strategic technological shift establishing engineering best practices and ensuring overall software excellence.

Contract Duration: Full-Time (2-Year Limited Term with a strong possibility of extension or transition to an indefinite contract)

Detailed Description

As a Senior Specialist you will apply your advanced software engineering expertise within established professional standards and objectives to solve complex problems of diverse this role you will analyze complex technical requirements system architectures and data schemas to drive high-impact modernization solutions. You will take full accountability for the quality of project delivery including managing work delivered by external technology partners as applicable.

To ensure delivery success you will work closely with leadership to receive high-level strategic direction while actively collaborating and communicating directly with business partners and global stakeholders. You will actively influence cross-functional teams outside your immediate department and resolve project-related technical conflicts in an effective and constructive manner. Recognizing that architectural decisions have a direct and long-term impact on major operational schedules and site performance goals you will apply strong professional judgment to safeguard project timelines. While you will operate with a high degree of independence receiving leadership guidance primarily on highly unique unusual or complex strategic challenges you will also lead project teams and provide technical guidance mentorship and coaching to technical staff. Finally you will actively focus on building and maintaining productive internal and external professional relationships to support collaborative project execution.

Performs tasks such as but not limited to the following:

• Lead the software design and end-to-end delivery of scalable enterprise web applications using Core MVC 10 actively proposing architectural solutions and collaborating with the dedicated architect for final approval;
• Drive the modernization and rewrite process migrating legacy Java and Java ADF application functionalities into a architecture while ensuring functional parity and system optimization;
• Balance legacy modernization with new features enablement designing and building brand-new product capabilities from scratch to deliver strategic business value;
• Collaborate with the dedicated architect to establish robust architectural foundations design RESTful APIs and optimize data flows integrated with Oracle DB;
• Deliver clean maintainable and scalable code by strictly adhering to SOLID principles and Clean Code practices;
• Actively coordinate development workflows in GitLab enforcing standardized branching strategies merge request processes and CI/CD practices;
• Act as a trusted technical mentor coaching and guiding team members through the transition from Java fostering a culture of continuous learning and peer-driven quality;
• Ensure application reliability and stability by defining and implementing code testing standards structured debugging and proactive performance optimization;
• Proactively manage and resolve technical debt modernize user interfaces and enhance application stability security and performance;
• Collaborate directly with IT/Business partners leadership and global stakeholders to translate business requirements into clear technical specifications;
• Maintain comprehensive technical documentation for architectural designs migration processes and database schemas to ensure long-term maintainability;

Knowledge/Skills/Competencies

• Minimum of 8 years of professional experience in ecosystem with an expert-level understanding of C# and Core;
• Solid expertise in software design and architecture (Dependency Injection Repository Pattern Clean Architecture Modular Design and design patterns) with a proven ability to propose scalable solutions and align them with enterprise architecture standards;
• Advanced proficiency in Database Architecture and SQL with experience optimizing Entity Framework Core integrated with Oracle DB (experience with other relational databases such as PostgreSQL or SQL Server is acceptable);
• Competency in web development and frontend integration combining Core MVC with JavaScript to build highly interactive responsive and performant user interfaces using UI components (such as Telerik UI) along with basic HTML and CSS skills;
• Proven experience leading technical workflows mentoring developers conducting constructive code reviews and driving overall quality standards;
• Exceptional verbal and written English skills for cross-cultural collaboration negotiating technical requirements and explaining concepts to developers with diverse technology backgrounds (specifically those transitioning from Java);
• Flexibility to occasionally participate in technical discussions and align on architecture with managers and architects in the Canada timezone (EST);
• Hands-on experience with version control and modern Git workflows (GitLab branch protection Merge Requests) along with exposure to CI/CD automation pipelines;
• Self-driven proactive mindset with the ability to manage priorities and design software systems with a focus on long-term scalability;
• Basic familiarity or openness to reading Java and Java ADF code to understand existing legacy business logic is considered an asset (previous hands-on Java development is not required);
• Understanding of Supply Chain Management (SCM) processes or ERP workflows is considered an asset (openness and willingness to learn these business processes is highly valued);
• Knowledge or experience with UI frameworks (e.g. Telerik UI for Core with Ajax Binding Tag Helpers) is considered an asset;
• Experience working in an Agile/Scrum environment with a solid understanding of sprint cycles collaborative delivery and continuous improvement is preferred;
• Awareness of and comfort with a 2-year limited-term contract structure with a strong possibility of extension or transition to an indefinite contract;
• Openness to utilizing modern development tools and AI-assisted engineering practices is preferred

Physical Demands

• Duties of this position are performed in a normal office environment.
• Duties may require extended periods of sitting and sustained visual concentration on a computer monitor or on numbers and other detailed data.
• Repetitive manual movements (e.g. data entry using a computer mouse using a calculator etc.) are frequently required
• Occasional overnight travel is required.

Typical Experience

• 8 years of experience in a similar role spanning software development architecture and legacy systems modernization

Typical Education

• University degree in one of the following: Computer Science Information Technology Information Systems or a related technical field.
