Senior Contract Management Specialist

Job Description

The Senior Contract Management Specialist (SnrCMS) is responsible for ensuring the timely and appropriate execution of Confidentiality Disclosure Agreements (CDAs), Clinical Study Agreements (CSAs), associated Budgets, and vendor agreements in their country(ies) of responsibility.

Those with sufficient experience and seniority may line manage others in the team and be allocated as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) for global topics. They may also be designated as a Therapeutic Area Captain for the function, responsible for ensuring OUS requirements are part of the final study budget and aligned with similar OUS budgets per designated Therapy Area.

• Accountable for the timely preparation and execution of CDAs, CSAs and budgets and related vendor agreements, and a point person for their country / region for legal, finance, Site Management and CPD. The SnrCMS will typically be responsible and/or have oversight for more than one country and/or a Large Business Unit (LBU).
• Negotiation of CDAs, CSAs and Budgets with investigator sites (directly or with support from local monitor where language necessitates), using templates, guidance and legal/budget playbooks, liaising with R+D legal for approval to changes not already described.
• Ensure input is provided for ongoing update of legal and budget playbooks and templates for the countries in the area of responsibility .
• Ensure appropriate tracking of CDAs, CSAs, Country and Site Intelligence.
• Agree, manage and communicate regarding priorities with local affiliate stakeholders and legal and finance, in alignment with Study and Priority planning.
• Drive for excellence and continuous improvement in delivery of global Contract Management responsibilities.

Depending on experience and skills/seniority, may:

• Take on functional responsibility as a “Therapeutic Area Captain” for the global Contract Management function; fostering consistency, SMM alignment and white glove service to internal stakeholders in the relevant TA. This includes responsibility for:
  • Managing the process for obtaining OUS input to study budgets via team collaboration, involvement in Budget Strategy Meetings and budget reviews.
  • Sharing information on TA/Study decisions impacting CSAs with the CPMG team
  • Managing and overseeing the web-based Basic Budget Query (BBQ) process
• Line manage CMSs / CMAs within the Contract Management function.
• Liaise with Country Operations Managers in the countries their line reports manage the contracts for.
• Lead process improvement projects for the OUS Contract Management Function and/or be a SME representing the OUS Contract Management function on process teams with broader impact.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent tertiary qualification; a Health Care, legal or scientific discipline preferred.
• Significant Clinical Research and/or contract/budget experience. Awareness and understanding of compliance and regulatory matters in clinical research. Experience in cross-functional interactions and working within a global environment an advantage.
• Proven negotiation, tact and diplomacy skills.
• Strong planning and organizational skills and the ability to work independently and effectively in a dynamic environment with competing priorities.
• Sense of urgency and strong goal orientation; track-record of meeting deadlines and goals
• Experience in line or matrix management an advantage.
• Strong written and verbal communication including written and verbal fluency in English and local language (if not English) and interpersonal skills, including conflict resolution and problem solving.
• Proactive and positive team player. Able to maintain high performance during times of ambiguity and change in the work environment
